ABOUT ME

Isla Willatt

B.A. Hons  University of Brighton

Painting is the language I use to express myself. As a creative activity, it is the most absorbing. I paint with acrylics using brushes, fingers, sticks and the fine edge of card, giving me the instant results and texture I’m looking for. My topics vary depending on circumstances. I am inspired by colour, architecture and landscape and have recently been developing abstract images.

I have exhibited my work in various Open Houses throughout Brighton and Hove. I have exhibited at the Skyway Gallery, Shoreham, receiving an award for the best use of colour. I took part in ‘The Open House’ exhibition at Worthing Art Gallery and I was on Channel 4’s Watercolour Challenge.

Painting inspires me to take risks with colour and form and has become my passion. Being a new resident of West Sussex, I am stimulated by the amazing spaces and ancient historical sites. To walk and breathe in new inspiration, be enriched by the diversity of nature, rolling hills, big beaches and never ending skies.
